Letter from the Law Society to the Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Turkey
 

The Law Society which is the professional body representing more than 160,000 solicitors in England and Wales expressed its concerns about the arrest, detention and judicial restrictions applied to Mr. Tahir ELÇİ and sent a letter addressed to the Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and Minister of Justice Kenan İPEK. In the letter they expressed their worries about threat and pressures applied to Mr.ELÇİ and stated that Turkey must abide by its responsibilities stemming from international law and must respect Mr. ELÇİ’s right to security and freedom of expression. The Law Society published the letter on their website.
